What is the meaning of the story of Jonah and the whale?
God is in control. Jonah spent the same amount of time—three days—inside the whale as Jesus Christ did in the tomb. It’s not important whether it was a great fish or a whale that swallowed Jonah. The point of the story is that God can provide a supernatural means of rescue when his people are in trouble.
Can a human survive in a whale stomach?
While the veracity of the story is in question, it is physically possible for a sperm whale to swallow a human whole, as they are known to swallow giant squid whole. However, such a person would be crushed, drowned or suffocated in the whale’s stomach. Similar to ruminants the sperm whale has a four-chambered stomach.
Can a whale kill you?
Killer whales (or orcas) are powerful predators capable of killing leopard seals and great white sharks. They have also been recorded preying on usually terrestrial species such as moose swimming between islands. In the wild, there have been no fatal attacks on humans.
Where does all the water go when a whale eats?
The water goes through the baleen. Animals and plants in the water are trapped and swallowed, while the water goes back out. This is very different from the way that toothed whales eat. Toothed whales eat larger fish or meat and are like big dolphins.
Are blue whales dangerous?
Interestingly, though they are enormous, blue whales are not predatory. They filter feed for tiny krill and are totally harmless to people (other than through accidental collisions).

Which dinosaur is still alive?
